These cookies can be used year round for hoildays and birthdays , and other occasions i.e., Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, just change the cut outs. I have made these cookies for my daughters since they were very young.
I bake about 1200 cookies for Christmas each year and give them away to friends and families.
- 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
- 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Let butter come to room temperature.
Mix butter, sugar, egg, vanilla extract. Add flour, baking powder. Form dough into a round disk and refrigerate over night.
Take dough out next day, Llghtly flour cutting board or counter. Use cookie cutter to cut cookies out. Place on cookie sheet (parchment paper optional). Bake at 350 F for 8-10 minutes. Remove and let cool. Should yield 24 cookies.
Frosting: 1 Cup Powdered Sugar 1/2 Cup Karo Syrup 1/4 Cup Milk Mix together until frosting is consistent. Add more milk if too dry. Use food color to make different colored icings. Decorate cookies, let them dry over night. Ready to serve.
