Italian Meatballs

A hearty classic Italian family recipe.


  • 250 Grams Ground Pork
  • 250 Grams Ground Beef
  • 3 Slices Whole Wheat Bread
  • 1 Medium Zucchini
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Parmesan, grated
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 1 Clove Garlic
  • 1 Can Tomato Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oregano
  • 2/3 Cup Parsley
  • 1 Package Spaghetti (or other pasta)


Step 1

Peel and Shred Zucchini. Chop Parsley. Dice Onion and crush/mince garlic.

Step 2

In pan with olive oil, fry onions garlic with a healthy pinch of oregano until clear and soft. Mix in shredded Zucchini. Remove from heat.

Step 3

In small bowl rip apart bread slices in small pieces. Add milk. Set aside until milk is absorbed into bread.

Step 4

In bowl mix pork and beef. Add onion, garlic, and zucchini mixture. Add bread mixture, parmesan cheese, parsley and egg. Season with salt and pepper. Mix very well using your hands (wash them first). Lightly form the meatballs.

Step 5

In the same deep sauce pan you fried your onions and garlic, pour in 1 can of your favorite tomato sauce. Gently add meatballs to sauce. Cook on medium-low heat for 1 hour.

Step 6

When the meatballs are just about ready, put a large pot of salted water on high heat and bring to a boil. Once water is boiling add your pasta. Cook according to pasta directions (should be about 10 minutes).

Step 7

After 1 hour, remove excess fat from sauce with spoon. Remove meat balls from sauce.

Step 8

Drain the pasta. Place some pasta in a serving bowl. Ladle a spoonful of sauce over, and top with a few meatballs. Enjoy these mouthwatering meatballs that cut like butter!
